Introduction of Macromedia Flash 8 | Flash fundamental | History of Flash | Multimedia

Multimedia

Multimedia is just as its name implies, an experience that uses multiple forms of media to convey a message, ideas or thought in a manner that requires the use of many senses. Movement, sound, interaction, and the passage of time are the basic elements: like itself is the ultimate multimedia experience. the internet was largely a text-only medium a for cry from the multimedia world they had grown accustomed to.

Flash Fundamental

Flash satisfies designers craving for more graphics and control over those graphics by providing a way to deliver vector images.

Animation is not limited to Cartoon characters, rather it also encompasses navigation elements such as button & menus.

History of Flash

Flash began life as future splash animator, a NIFY program for creating and animating vector art. in 1997, macromedia acquired future splash changed the name to flash and promoted the program as a tool for creating graphics content for the world wide web.

What is Macromedia Flash?

Using the Macromedia Flash application, users may create interactive media such as webpages, videos, and animations. After being acquired by Macromedia in 1996, it was rebranded as Macromedia Flash from its previous moniker, Future Splash Animator. After acquiring Macromedia in 2005, Adobe rebranded the program as Adobe Flash.

Vector and Graphics

Computer-generated visuals known as vector graphics are composed of mathematically-based lines, curves, points, and forms. They are employed in the production of vector art, or artwork composed entirely of vector graphics.
The following are some traits of vector graphics:
The ability to scale

Any size can be achieved using vector drawings without sacrificing quality or resolution. They are therefore a fantastic option for resizing logos, posters, and other graphics.

Formulas in mathematics

Mathematical formulas serve as the foundation for vector graphics, which arrange lines and shapes in two or three dimensions.

File dimensions

The file sizes of vector graphics are modest.

Applications

Applications for vector graphics include print marketing, web design, art, and more.

Understanding flash Interface

Title Bar: it is the first bar that appears on the top of flash screen. it shows the document name.

Menu Bar: in the menu bar, there are various menus like file, edit etc. each laving a set of different tasks to program.

Time Line: A time line holds movies frame and scenes. it is where you work with the frames and layers that make up the whole flash movie. it is complete record of the movie. frames appear in the chronological order. clicking any frame in the timeline takes you directly to that frame and displays its content on the stage.

Layers: In Flash, layers are translucent sheets that can be layered on top of one another to arrange animation, graphics, and other components in a Flash film. When working on intricate Flash applications, layers can aid by enabling you to:

Draw and modify objects independently: Drawing and modifying an object in one layer won't have an impact on objects in other layers.
Layers can be locked to prevent unauthorized alteration of its objects.

Layers can be shown or hidden; you can even choose to show just the outlines of the layers.

Rearrange layers: You can reorganize your document by rearranging its layers.

Flash Stage: it is a rectangle shaped are a where one can create flash movie. by default the flash stage measures 550 pixel wide & 400 pixels high. when the final movie is played anything that is on the flash stage will be visible in the movie.

To use the document properties dialog box:

To set the unit of measurement click the ruler units pop up menu. A List of available unit option appears. select the preferred unit to work. by default, the unit of measure in pixels.
Flash can performed calculation for you also. if you don't know the pixel size of the object you are creating, just change the ruler units an enter the height & width of the object in the desired unit form, and again change the ruler units.

Properties Inspector

The Properties Inspector is context sensitive and it changes constantly to reflect the selections.

Grids
A grid is a set of intersecting vertical & horizontal lines the acts as a measure for drawing & positioning objects. A Grid works like a graph paper used to align the objects. the grid is visible only at design time therefor when the final movie is played it does not appear.

Panels

Flash puts authoring tools in panel windows that can stay open on the desktop for quick access as you work. some panels. such as Color Mixer let you set the attributes to be used in creating new documents.

Work Area

It is an area where the flash stage appears. it extends beyond the stage on all sides but remains outside the visible frame of the final movie as it plays.

Ruler & Guides

Ruler and Guides aid you in drawing objects with precise sizes, shapes and position in the stage.
